Imagine: the ski lift has broken. Dozens, if not hundreds, of skiers are now trapped 30 feet above the ground.
One of the roles for any ski patrol is known as lift rescue. Ski patrol now needs to safely get these passengers to the ground. The slow, traditional way is to work from the various towers across the lift.
But with the DTX Shoulder Shot unit, there is a safe and simple shortcut. Shoot a line over the top of the lift, secure a rescue rope with harness or an evacuation collar. Using this device, multiple lines can be set at once and multiple rescues performed.
The Mount Holly Ski Patrol started using the DTX Shoulder Shot launcher in preparation for such an event. They were kind enough to make a video of the operation. Here’s a shortened version of what they shared with us.
