Have Fall Protection From Your First Climb to Your Last

For anyone climbing on a roof, the DTX Shoulder Shot is a fast and simple way to set up fall protection. From your first climb up to the last climb down, you can have a line securing you. 

Climbing on roofs is dangerous. According to the NIH, roughly 1,000 people die each year in roofing related falls. Of all fatal falls in the construction sector, Roofers accounts for over 43% according to the CDC. Attaching an OSHA required anchor point to the roof without fall protection is risky. If you have an extremely steep roof, you can’t climb up to tie off to begin with. If it’s raining, snowy, or icy, you can’t climb up either. Other roofs don’t have suitable locations for typical anchorages.

Use the Shoulder Shot to shoot a line over a roof and tie off from the ground for anyone doing roofing, construction, inspections, maintenance, or chimney work.

Simply load the device with a bag and line. Then fill the chamber with air or CO2. A standard compressor, hand pump, or tank all work. 

Unlike other devices, you can pinpoint with our PSI chart just the right amount of pressure to go over the roof and down the other side.  This adjustable pressure can help you avoid hitting power lines, landing in someone else’s yard, or damaging property. 

Aiming is incredibly easy. Line up your shot by looking down the barrel. Once you pull the air release handle, the weighted throw bag will fly on its intended trajectory. Wind, light rain, cloudy or clear, frigid or hot, you can still get the same accurate result.

After you’ve launched the bag and line, attach your climbing rope and pull through. Secure the rope to your tie off point.

In certain cases, OSHA allows this rope line to be tied to a tree with a 6 inch diameter or larger as sufficient fall protection, without having to bolt the required 5,000 Lbs plate to the ridge of a roof. This prevents damage to the roof by bolting plates. In other instances, you’ll have a line in place to set your anchor points.

This DTX Shoulder Shot is designed to minimize wear and tear on your fingers, hands, and arms. It’s built durably, using stainless steel, PVC, and brass.

It’s created with safety in mind too. Max PSI is 110. The pressure release prevents overfilling. The barrel valve gets bag flying clean. The safety stops misfires – no accidentally opening the valve. 

Learning the device is easy. After a few practice shots, you’ll know what to do. 

The device weighs just 11 Lbs and can be stored in a 26 inch bag or toolbox. It can even fit behind the seat of your truck.
