A few weeks ago, we shared the story of a DTX customer who wanted to use the launcher to set up a Kayaking race course. As shared before, “A white water slalom event has ‘gates’ hung at appropriate places along a river that a contestant must negotiate as fast they can.” These gates are hung on ropes pulled above the river.
Yesterday we got a video using our line launcher to set the lines, along with this note:
Our Whitewater races are not until May 10th but the volunteer crew wanted to get the gates up early this year so we got it done last Saturday April 26th. Between having a larger crew than usual, and the DTX Shoulder Shot launcher we got the gates up in one day when it has usually taken me 1.5 days in the past.
Recall that there are three lines associated with each gate: The Suspension line the gate hangs from and two smaller haul lines, one on each side to pull the gate back and forth across the river. My process was to shoot the river right haul line across to the folks working river right…. The gate was then pulled to the position we wanted…
I’m more of a DeWalt tool guy, but that little Ryobi air compressor is sweet! Here’s the video put together by Britt Runyon – the owner of New Wave Rafting here in the Taos area.
