We get calls from many different people who want to use the DTX Shoulder Shot launcher for very different uses. Some of the more interesting ones include setting up kayaking courses, testing solar panels for hail damage, setting up HAM radio antennas, to name a few.
But this time, we heard from a primatologist at the University of Texas:
We are studying monkeys in the Amazon rainforest. We want to collect their partially eaten fruit from high in the trees. We tried a big shot style slingshot, but found it hard to use. Would your launcher do the trick? And can we break it down small enough to fit on our backpack, while we take a small boat into our worksite?
Being based out of Austin, not too far from our facility, the professor came down and tested the launcher with us. We showed him how to use it, how the barrel removes from the chamber, and how he can unscrew the shoulder rest to make it even smaller.
Did it work?
Here is the team using the DTX Shoulder Shot launcher at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station (TBS), located in eastern Ecuador.
